Life is full of ups and downs, so it’s not enough to get motivated, you must also stay motivated. If you only expose yourself to motivation once in a while, you will get drained very quickly and give up.
Being a pastor with thousands of members is a great responsibility, so I know how important it is to stay motivated. Here are a few tips I use to keep my motivation constantly high:
1. Have a non-negotiable routine:
Identify things that feed your spirit, and make them part of your daily routine. I spend a large part of my days studying, praying and conducting research so I can stay informed and be up to date. I know that I have young and upwardly mobile members so I have to speak a language that they can understand. Prayer is important to me because that is how I draw strength for my assignment.
2. Surround yourself with the right people:
Nothing drains your motivation like being around bad company. The wrong friends can tamper with your destiny because they will affect your beliefs, choices, confidence and behaviour. Jesus was cordial with everybody but he chose his inner circle intentionally. You must do the same if you want to be successful.
Reading expands your mind and open up new horizons in your imagination. Reading also helps you dream bigger because it breaks the limitations in your mind. Read biographies of successful people and see how they got where they are and learn from them. You can learn the lessons of 40 years in one single book. Readers are indeed leaders.
Don’t judge yourself by your experiences, you can be so much more than who you currently are. However, you need to motivate yourself even when everything seems to be against you, and stay motivated. God is for you so nothing and no one can stop you. I look forward to celebrating your success story.
